I am passionate about teaching and learning because the classroom setting can provide opportunities for students to ask and learn how to answer questions about real world issues in a collaborative environment. The intention of my teaching is to provide an environment for students to “learn how to learn” and apply what they learned to problems in Animal Science. I see my role in the classroom as a facilitator of learning and I have found that the most effective use of class time is for discussion and problem solving. I also want my students to become confident in interpreting and communicating current scientific studies. I believe that these approaches and experiences for students will contribute to their success in college and as they continue in careers in working with animals.
