This program is designed for students with a Bachelor’s degree who wish to further their education to gain a fundamental understanding of fashion merchandising. It is applicable to graduates of accredited institutions who majored in a field other than fashion merchandising. It is also designed for graduates of textiles and apparel programs who wish to complete 400-level fashion merchandising courses.
A bachelor’s degree with a 3.0 GPA or higher is required. Applicants who do not meet the GPA requirement may enter by earning a combined score of 900 or above on the verbal and quantitative sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). International students must submit TOEFL scores of 550 (or 213 on the computer-based TOEFL) or higher.

- TMD 313 Textile Science Laboratory
- TMD 332 Fashion Merchandise Buying
Certificate Course List (12 credits) Students are required to successfully complete a minimum of twelve 400-level credits with an average grade of B (overall 3.00 GPA) or above. A maximum of three credits of graduate level coursework from another institution will be accepted for transfer credit. Students select from the following list of courses:
- TMD 402 Seminar in Textiles and Clothing (1-2)
- TMD 424 Fashion Theory and Analysis (3)
- TMD 432 Fashion Merchandising Operations Control (3)
- TMD 433 Textile Markets (3)
- TMD 442 Fashion Promotion (3)
- TMD 452 Consumer Behavior in Fashion Retailing (3)
Master’s Program Students may apply the twelve 400-level credits towards the Master’s degree program subsequent to their completion of this certificate.
