Most common mobile devices support the use of Google Mail, Calendar, Docs, and other G-Suite applications. Google provides extensive documentation on how to set up and use your device with their products. Faculty and staff should never maintain sensitive regulated data on personally owned mobile devices. Users, including students, wishing to sync their URI and G-Suite account to their mobile device (smart phone, tablet) must ensure that their device is, at a minimum, protected by a password or pin.
Setting Up Your Device(s)
You can expect some variation for setting up different Android devices, including smartphones and tablets.
Setting up iPhones and iPads should be fairly consistent since they operate on a closed, proprietary system.
- iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch Quick Start Set Up (URI-specific instructions)
- iPhone/iOS Setup (Google’s page)
- Important: Delete settings and Google Sync (Be sure to read Google Sync Known Issues with iOS for additional information.)
