After earning a BA in Education from the University of Rhode Island I taught high school for several years, including two years at an international school in Venezuela.
I began my career at Whispering Pines in June of 1986. From my first day on the job my focus has been to create an environment that is an alternative to the typical hospitality facility. The rural, rustic environment combined with the small size of the center makes us unique. This gives us an opportunity to create a place that is client focused, a place where guests not only feel at home but also have a sense of ownership.
As the Assistant Director of Conferences and Special Events at Whispering Pines, I truly am sincere when I ask a customer, “how may I help you”. This is the attitude embraced by the entire staff. Come, be our guest at Whispering Pines.
Ann Marie Evans
Ann Marie graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a B.S. in Hospitality Sales and Meeting Management and a Master’s Degree in Managerial Technology. She has worked in Sales & Marketing for Marriott, Hilton, and Doubletree Hotels. Since 1997 she has held the position of Sales, Conference Coordinator for the Whispering Pines Conference Center. In her free time, Ann Marie enjoys playing golf and spending quality time with her two teenage children.
Since receiving her Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida, Erin has spent her career working in various areas of the hospitality industry such as hotel and catering sectors before joining the Whispering Pines family in 2008. Since then, Erin has been planning and coordinating all special events at the Whispering Pines Conference Center from birthday parties to weddings. With having coordinated hundreds of weddings throughout her career, she credits much of her success with having such a wonderful and talented staff along with her calm and charismatic demeanor to ease any wedding jitters that come our way.
Bill wears many hats at Whispering Pines, most notably as food and beverage manager, wedding planner and sales professional. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Rhode Island and in his 35+ year career in the food service industry, his experience has ranged from diners to 3 star restaurants in New York City, in positions ranging from bottle washer to general manager. He oversees all kitchen operations and menu planning with a special focus on the farm to table movement. He is a wine lover, of course, and travels regularly for culinary inspiration.
Jane majored in History, minored in Philosophy, and received a BA from Dunbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington, DC. Prior to coming to Whispering Pines in 1995, she had experience in banquet and corporate sales at historic hotels on Cape Cod, in Boston and Providence. Jane draws out-of-state corporations, colleges and organizations to the conference center where participants’ potential for success is maximized.
Active in community affairs in Uxbridge, MA, Jane was a four-term Town Moderator and is currently a member of the School and School Building Committees. She also guides the next generation of good citizens and leaders as a senior mentor to the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution.
