What is a Teen Science Caf\u00e9 (TSC)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TSC is a national program featuring community “caf\u00e9s” where teens and STEM experts collaborate on presentations and hands-on activities that explore science topics. Caf\u00e9s are led by<\/em> teens for<\/em> teens. No prior knowledge is needed to join the TSC! All curious teens are welcome!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At TSC, teens can socialize, enjoy refreshments, and talk with local STEM professionals about current, cutting-edge ideas in science and technology. TSC is a relaxed and informal program. Caf\u00e9s are structured to promote lively conversation and interaction among teens and STEM professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A caf\u00e9 is not a lecture; it is a discussion! Scientists share their experiences, an overview of their career path, relevant research in their field, and answer questions! Most caf\u00e9s feature a hands-on activity, so teens can actively engage in the science\/technology being discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Does TSC Work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caf\u00e9s are for teens, by teens. A planning committee, with the mentorship of an adult, plan and run the caf\u00e9 themselves by selecting dates, topics, speakers, etc. Along the way, planning committee members gain a host of leadership skills (which looks great in their Record Books!). The TSC meets quarterly (4x per year). Adults attending are asked to observe only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Can I Get Involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can sign up for TSC as a regular member or as a planning committee member! All members are expected to attend at least 3 out of 4 yearly meetings. <\/p>\n\n\nRegister for Teen Science Caf\u00e9!<\/a>\n\n\n
