Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate

Advanced Placement

You may earn advanced placement credit for college if you’ve completed college-level courses in high school and passed the CEEB Advanced Placement Examination with the minimum score required by the URI academic department, or by successfully completing an examination administered by those departments. Credit will only be awarded based on official AP exam scores sent to URI by the College Board. Follow this link, which explains how to send your official scores. For AP credit equivalencies, please search the table below.

College credit may also be awarded for courses completed at another institution with a grade of C or better. If you’ve been out of secondary school for more than three years, you may also earn college credit by completing CLEP general and subject examinations. Equivalencies are ultimately decided by the academic department who offers the equivalent course at the University. How AP equivalencies are applied to the degree may change based on major. *
