First-year students will complete the Common Application and all other first-year and transfer application materials. As a U.S. citizen, you are able to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). English language proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/englishtest.duolingo.com\/applicants\">Duolingo English Test (DET)<\/a>: minimum score of 105 (Pharm.D. applicants 125)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TOEFL iBT: minimum score of&nbsp;4.5&nbsp;(Pharm.D. applicants&nbsp;5.0)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 (Pharm.D. applicants 7.0)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cambridge English: Advanced: 176-184 (Pharm.D. applicants 185-190)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PTE Academic \/ PTE Express: minimum score of 53 (Pharm.D. applicants 68)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eiken Test of English: completion of level Pre-1 (Pharm.D. applicants Completion of Grade 1)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants who have attended a secondary school or post-secondary school where the language of instruction is English may be exempt from submitting an English proficiency examination depending upon their English grades (AP, IB, O level, A-level, GCSE, American Curriculum) and their SAT and\/or ACT scores (if submitted). Such exemptions are determined on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Document Evaluation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">International transfer applicants must have all post-secondary transcripts formally evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES\u00ae) certified credential evaluation agency at the time of enrollment. Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/naces.org\/\">NACES website<\/a> for a list of approved credential evaluators. Evaluations must be based on original or attested copies of academic documents. Applicants should request a course-by-course evaluation and have an official report sent directly to URI. Also, please be aware that official course descriptions and\/or syllabi (in English) may be requested by the head of the student\u2019s department before URI transfer credit is awarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I-20\/Financial Documents<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/office-of-international-students-and-scholars\/\">Office of International Students and Scholars<\/a> issues the Form I-20 for all newly admitted international students, including first year and transfer students. The Form I-20 will be used to schedule the F-1 visa interview at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate outside the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Admitted international students will receive an email from OISS with instructions on how to access the Sunapsis portal. In Sunapsis, required forms must be completed and documents uploaded before the Form I-20 can be issued. Required documents include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. <strong>URI Admission Letter<\/strong><br>2. <strong>Proof of Funding<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A bank statement (s) (issued within the last 30 days)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A government issued financial guarantee or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other types of funds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These documents must show enough funds to cover the full cost of attendance for your first year and indicate that funding will be available for future years.<br>3. <strong>Passport Copy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A clear, legible copy of the biographical (photo) page of the passport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. <strong>Home Country Address<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Permanent address outside the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. <strong>Transfer In Form (only for some students)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This form is only required if you are currently studying in the U.S. on an active F-1 visa and I-20 from another school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It allows your SEVIS record to be transferred to URI.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If government or reserve bank permission is required to transfer funds from the student\u2019s country to the United States, a notarized copy of the permission is required. No need-based financial aid is available to international students, although all applicants are eligible for merit-based scholarship consideration. Inquiries from international students concerning non-immigrant visas, transfers, funding, etc., should be emailed to the Office of Admission at <a href=\"mailto:internationaladmission@uri.edu\">internationaladmission@uri.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"merit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Merit Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth wp-block-paragraph\">Merit scholarships are available for international students with a record of outstanding academic achievement. These partial tuition scholarships range in amount and are renewable each year as long as the student maintains the minimum required grade point average. The scholarships do not cover the costs of room and board or miscellaneous fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth wp-block-paragraph\">All applicants are considered for merit scholarships by submitting a completed Common Application. There is no separate scholarship application.
