{"id":2804,"date":"2015-06-16T13:58:51","date_gmt":"2015-06-16T17:58:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/admission\/?page_id=2804"},"modified":"2025-06-04T15:29:56","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T19:29:56","slug":"home-schooled","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/admission\/home-schooled\/","title":{"rendered":"Admission for Home-Schooled Applicants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<p class=\"type-intro\">The requirements for students who have been home-schooled are the same as those for students who have followed a traditional schooling profile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are several ways the home-schooled student can present the required material.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li>Students who have had an established working relationship with a home-schooling agency that supplies curriculum outlines and that reviews and grades work completed can submit a transcript from that agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">Students may also submit their home-schooling plans to the appropriate agencies in their states in order to receive approval to grant a high school diploma.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li>Many homeschooled students supplement their home learning with college courses and courses with certified private tutors\/teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>URI will remain test-optional for the 2024-2025 admission cycle.<\/strong> If you plan to submit your SAT or ACT scores to URI, please answer &#8220;yes&#8221; to that question on our Common Application, and we will wait to review your application until we receive your scores.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li>Other options for demonstrating course competency include submission of college courses covering the subject areas listed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/admission\/first-year\/\">first-year requirements<\/a> section of the website, results of Advanced Placement exams in those same subjects, or CLEP exam results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fullwidth\">\n<ul>\n<li>Homeschooled applicants are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a non-family member.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The requirements for students who have been home-schooled are the same as those for students who have followed a traditional schooling profile.
