These notes are reviewed regularly in preparation for the visitor&#8217;s arrival to campus.<\/p>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-tabs-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-tabs  \">\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Accessible<br \/>\nParking<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended, the University has<br>accessible parking spaces throughout campus for individuals with disabilities. Parking in these spaces is free with a valid accessible placard issued by any state, and does not require pre-registration or notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">The closest accessible parking spaces for Admission visitors are located in the Robert J. Higgins Welcome Center parking lot. While there are 12 handicap designated parking spaces, visitors are permitted to park in any parking space in this lot.<\/p>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/visit\/parking-information\/\" title=\"\">View Parking Map<\/a>\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \"><br><\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Language<br \/>\nAssistance<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">If you speak a language other than English as your primary language and require interpretation or translation services, including ASL interpretation, please submit requests 2+ weeks in advance. While it may not always be possible to accommodate individuals who miss this deadline, reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate each person. Live closed captioning for the admission information session is also available upon request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \"><\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Manual<br \/>\nWheelchair<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">Our campus tour is wheelchair and ADA accessible. Wheelchair reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis by submitting the request on your visit registration form. Wheelchair care and operation are the responsibility of the guest.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Service<br \/>\nAnimals<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">The University of Rhode Island recognizes the ability of persons with documented disabilities to utilize Service Animals, as defined by the Department of Justice-Civil Rights Division, on University property. Visitors do not need to request the University\u2019s permission to bring Service Animals onto University property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">The University may request evidence of the animal\u2019s current state registration and proper vaccination. In addition, an individual may be asked if the animal is needed because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \"><strong>Emotional Support Animals and Pets are not considered Service Animals<\/strong> and are not approved accommodations for University visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">For more information, please review the University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/policies\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/928\/Animals-on-Campus-Policy-20211027a-FINAL-01.104.03-5-yr.pdf\">Policy for Animals on Campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Dietary<br \/>\nNeeds<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">If you\u2019re planning to attend an admission event that includes a meal in one of our dining halls, you will have the opportunity to share any dietary restrictions on your registration form for that event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">For all questions related to dietary accommodations, nutrition, ingredients, or food preparation methods, please contact Karen Orabona, M.Ed, RD, LDN, our Dietitian and Nutrition Specialist at <strong><a href=\"mailto:karenorabona@uri.edu\">karenorabona@uri.edu<\/a><\/strong> or 401.874.4856.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading fullwidth\" id=\"request\"><strong>Requests<\/strong> for<strong> <\/strong>Accommodations<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">This interactive process begins when an individual with a disability requests a reasonable accommodation from the Office of Admission.
