The cell and molecular biology major provides excellent preparation for careers in medicine (the major automatically satisfies the pre-health course requirements), biomedical and life science research, and biotechnology. Further, experiential learning is an integral part of this degree program. Students apply technical approaches such as gene cloning, electron microscopy, and computer technology, to bacteria, viruses, algae, protozoa, fungi, and animal and plant cells. Graduates work in: hospital laboratories, the federal government (EPA, FDA, USDA) and industry.
