UCS 160 : Success in Higher Education<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UCS 160 is a one credit course open to undergraduate students who seek to develop their skills at studying, planning and managing work and time, strengthening motivation and minimizing procrastination, self care, test taking, AI use, and metacognitive thinking. Students in UCS 160 learn to assess their own needs, set and pursue goals for personal growth, identify and apply effective strategies, and monitor their effectiveness. Class sections are intentionally small and emphasize active engagement with course content through group activity and discussion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UCS 161: Becoming a Self-Directed Learner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UCS 161 is for students who have taken UCS 160 and are ready for a deeper dive into the areas of academic skills development and personal growth that they feel are vital to their success. Topics build on UCS 160, with a greater emphasis on self-directedness and self-advocacy, and an intensified focus on identifying, analyzing and addressing individual academic challenges in real time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshops<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Faculty, advisors, staff and student groups can request academic skills related workshops<\/strong> customized to suit their groups’ specific academic skills needs and facilitated by our professional staff. Training workshops<\/strong> are also available to students involved in peer tutoring and academic support, and to faculty interested in enhancing student success (in collaboration with the Office for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
