STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The University of Rhode Island prohibits all forms of unlawful harassment. Sexual harassment, as defined herein, is prohibited in employment by Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Rhode Island Fair Employment Practices Act, and in education programs, activities and benefits by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 and Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Sexual violence (as defined herein) is prohibited in both the employment context, as well as in the educational programs, activities and benefits context, under Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) and the Violence Against Woman Reauthorization Act of 2013 (“VAWA”). Read more
