As an art history major, you&#8217;ll develop skills to analyze and interpret works of art as expressions and products of social, cultural and historic conditions. You will be able to conduct research, and write and speak effectively about art and architecture.<\/p>\n<h3>Program Highlights<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Focused learning in our <strong>small classes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll receive <strong>individual attention<\/strong> from faculty and regular advisement on career opportunities, internships, study abroad, combining majors, entering graduate school, and more<\/li>\n<li><strong>Faculty are very active in their field<\/strong>\u2014working on important archaeological sites, publishing their latest research, and helping to organize international exhibitions\u2014their work enriches the classroom experience for our students with the latest discoveries and controversies in the field<\/li>\n<li>Some classes include <strong>hands-on field work<\/strong> and training with art objects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel into the art world<\/strong> with regular bus trips to New York City where you might complete assignments or visit major museums and exhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Classes have also been held at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence, the Newport Art Museum, the Hera Gallery, and elsewhere<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each semester, visiting scholars often come into art history courses to discuss their research and to conduct workshops.
