Presented as part of the unveiling of the University of Rhode Island\u2019s new Fine Arts Center, this exhibition seeks to reimagine and engage with the idea of \u201cthe pursuit of happiness\u201d as an inalienable right given to the citizens of the United States. What does it look like to pursue, live, and sustain happiness across generations? This exhibition seeks to answer that question by highlighting the voices, perspectives, and creative expressions of Indigenous artists whose work reflects resilience, identity, and community. This work may engage historic pasts, our shared present, or extend the conversation toward imagined futures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through <em>In <\/em><em>Pursuit of Happiness<\/em>, we aim to create a space for reflection, dialogue, and celebration of Indigenous creativity and perspectives. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly\u2014honoring traditions, envisioning futures, and expressing the layered realities of joy, survival, and fulfillment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We look forward to your submissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/poh-je\">Apply Here<\/a> by July 17, 2026<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/poh-je\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/poh-je<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Open to enrolled citizens of federally and state-recognized Tribal Nations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Media &amp; Presentation<br><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All media are accepted, including performance, 2D, 3D, and digitally projected work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work must be ready to hang or display upon arrival. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each work must include the artist\u2019s name, title, and medium clearly labeled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any special installation or hanging requirements must be detailed in the application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Insurance<br><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>All accepted work will be insured when in custody of URI.
