Students in a French course won a virtual environmental challenge hosted by URI’s partner institution, the University of Rennes 2 in Rennes, France, that was focused on how to make university communities more sustainable. It was conducted in French.

Cate McLaughlin ‘23 is pursuing our new dual major program, International Studies and Diplomacy (ISD), focusing on also earning a B.A. in French and two minors in Spanish and Arabic. “It allows you to be a really well-rounded person by studying so many disciplines and picking up so many more skills,” she says of the ISD major.

Lars Erickson has been named a Chevalier (or Knight) of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques. The award recognizes his outstanding achievements at promoting the study of the French language and culture.
