Liberal arts education is at its best when it draws freely from a rich variety of perspectives. The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to creating an academic community in which a variety of viewpoints are elevated, barriers to success are removed, and students of all backgrounds are inspired and supported.<\/p>\n

Academics<\/h2>\n

As we continue to create a more equitable college, our work is guided by a vigilant stand against any and all forms of oppression and injustice. We continue our efforts to recruit and retain faculty from diverse backgrounds, design curricula that amplify all perspectives in the classroom, and create programming outside the classroom that elevates diverse voices. As the largest college at URI, we recognize that progress toward a more diverse and equitable college plays a crucial role in the University’s future success, and more importantly, the success of our students during their time at URI and beyond.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to prepare you to become a well-informed global citizen with the knowledge, flexibility, and skills required to flourish in a rapidly evolving world. No matter your area of study, we invite you to explore what fascinates you, to delve into unknown worlds, to think critically, to question the status quo, to synthesize complex problems, to listen to others, to challenge your own opinions, and to communicate effectively – regardless of your background.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
