{"id":17256,"date":"2025-01-27T11:02:44","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T16:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/?p=17256"},"modified":"2025-01-27T11:02:44","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T16:02:44","slug":"announcing-the-2025-as-fellows-program-request-for-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/news\/announcing-the-2025-as-fellows-program-request-for-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing the 2025 A&amp;S Fellows Program  Request for Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The College of Arts and Sciences is sponsoring the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/fellows-program\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/fellows-program\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1738076498439000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3umR5D7qafEUknUNWZiHpS\"><strong>A&amp;S Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Works Student Fellows Program<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>for Summer 2025.&nbsp;<strong>Students will be paid $20 an hour for up to 20 hours per week for ten weeks in the summer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Faculty members participating in the A&amp;S Fellows Program will mentor College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate majors engaging in original scholarly, research, or creative work. Faculty will guide students through research, scholarship, or creative projects proposed by the student and agreed upon with the faculty member.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students with ideas for original research, scholarship, or creative works projects may apply. Students will identify an A&amp;S faculty member with whom they think might be interested in supervising their project and then contact them to discuss their project idea. Once an A&amp;S faculty member agrees to mentor the student, the student works with the faculty member to develop the project <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1132\/CF-Student-Fellows-Program-Final-Student-Project-Application-Forms-2025-app.pdf\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/artsci\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1132\/CF-Student-Fellows-Program-Final-Student-Project-Application-Forms-2025-app.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1738076498439000&amp;usg=AOvVaw13QqlnZjt6G5BYm1H69_b4\"><strong>application<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The College of Arts and Sciences Research, Scholarship, and Creative Work Committee will evaluate the student project proposals and select those to be supported by the Fellows Program based on students\u2019 preparation to make use of the fellowship opportunity and the educational benefit to the students. Funding is limited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">To apply for the 2025 A&amp;S Fellows Program, students should submit the associated materials to Angelique Beckmann <a href=\"mailto:ambeckmann@uri.edu\">ambeckmann@uri.edu<\/a> by 4:30PM, March 01, 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">All current URI undergraduate students, full-time or part-time, who are officially declared as an Arts &amp; Sciences major and in good academic standing.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students must work with an A&amp;S faculty member over the summer and re-enroll as undergraduates in the subsequent fall. Graduating seniors are not eligible.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Full time A&amp;S faculty, including tenure track and non-tenure track, are eligible as mentors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Post Evaluation<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Upon completion of the project, students are required to produce and present a final poster about the project during the subsequent fall semester. The College will provide funds through the faculty member\u2019s academic department to cover the cost of poster printing.
