Biography

Jill Firtell joined the University of Rhode Island in 2019 after working as the Director of the Health and Life Sciences online programs at the University of Liverpool for many years. Jill is currently responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the URI Online programs. Jill collaborates with Deans, Department Chairs and faculty to identify valuable online programs that build upon the University’s strengths while expanding the overall academic portfolio. Jill also works in partnership with the Provost’s office to ensure that the URI Online programs are of the highest quality and reflect the future vision of the University’s online strategy. She provides additional support to program administration, key faculty, and the online education instructional design team in relation to the design of online programs as needed. Jill works closely with the Communications and Marketing Department to effectively market and brand the URI Online programs on a regular basis.

Jill has co-authored a number of papers and recently co-authored a book chapter. She has also presented at various conferences and is a member of advisory committees.
