Ryan Chapman

Biography

Ryan Chapman is an Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology department at URI. He joins the kinesiology faculty at URI as the Principal Investigator of the Biomechanics & Wearables Laboratory (BWL) where his research focus is monitoring the musculoskeletal biomechanics of humans both inside and out of the laboratory/clinic, before and after clinical intervention using a variety of techniques including optical motion capture, wearable sensors, and machine learning/artificial intelligence. His specific projects involve total joint replacement, rehabilitation, sports performance, ambulation in expectant mothers, and orthopedic trauma. Ryan joined the team this summer, 2022, to serve as a peer reviewer for the assessment cycle.
