The Office for the Advancement of Teaching & Learning (ATL) advances teaching excellence at the University of Rhode Island by supporting instructors, strengthening student learning, and fostering educational innovation across the university. Each year, our Annual Report highlights the reach and impact of this work, including the programs, services, partnerships, and innovations made possible by our staff, faculty leaders, and campus collaborators. The 2025\u20132026 Annual Report reflects a year of continued growth and collaboration as ATL worked across URI to respond to the evolving needs of our instructional community and advance university priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Impact at Scale:<\/strong> ATL supported 347 individual URI instructors through campus-wide Faculty Development programming<\/strong>, while the Academic Testing Center proctored 6,544 exams for 2,029 unique students and 357 faculty members<\/strong>. The ATC also offset approximately 11,689 hours of faculty proctoring time<\/strong>, an increase of nearly 15% from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Meaningful Faculty Engagement:<\/strong> ATL provided 116 individual instructor consultations representing more than 139 hours of direct support across 10 colleges and administrative units<\/strong>. Through the growing Thank an Instructor<\/em> initiative, students also submitted 431 notes of appreciation recognizing 324 individual URI instructors<\/strong> during spring 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Signature Programs and Innovation:<\/strong> Approximately 183 participants from the United States and around the world<\/strong> joined ATL\u2019s 2026 Innovative Education Conference, which featured 20 presentations<\/strong> focused on flourishing in higher education. ATL also continued its Fall Symposium, Instructor Appreciation Luncheon, and Summer Institute, while expanding initiatives in generative AI, inclusive teaching, faculty vitality and well-being, graduate instructor support, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Supporting University Priorities:<\/strong> ATL\u2019s Student Learning Outcomes Assessment & Accreditation team supported 23 new degree and certificate program proposals<\/strong>, helped lead URI\u2019s transition to a new three-year undergraduate academic program assessment cycle<\/strong>, and collaborated across the university on assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
