For many, the pathway from college to career is filled with side tracks, loops, wandering, and serendipity. It is rare to find someone who starts college with a specific career track in mind and four years later finds a job in that exact area. Yet, we assume that the linear path is the true path even though we know the roundabout way is the way many of us found our careers. Finding the right path often required finding the right people. This fall, we will be forming a learning community for graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) at URI. We have four scheduled meetings (on campus, in person) for GTAs to come together and explore their teaching practice. Our community is limited to 15 participants, to facilitate thoughtful conversation and relationship building. Mental Health First Aid Certification Course for Faculty and Staff <\/strong> (ALL)
Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education is designed with colleges\u2019 and universities\u2019 unique culture and resources in mind. The program trains students, faculty and others in higher education settings about how to recognize the symptoms of emerging mental illnesses or to assist young adults and colleagues in a mental health crisis and help lessen the severity and impact of mental illnesses. Participants receive a three-year national certification in Mental Health First Aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
