All new degree programs and certificates at URI require an Assessment Plan as part of the proposal package. Contact the ATL Assessment Office via email at assess@uri.edu<\/a> to schedule a consultation. We would be glad to provide you with support to help you develop your assessment plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Program Proposal Process <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Seek proposal approval through your department and college<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your proposal should have internal buy-in and departmental approval before moving forward. Check with your department chair and college dean’s office to confirm the proposal has been reviewed and supported at both levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Contact the Faculty Senate and enter the information into Kuali<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New program proposals must be submitted through the Faculty Senate curriculum process and entered into Kuali, URI’s curriculum management system. Make sure this step is underway before reaching out to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Contact<\/strong> Us<\/strong> (assess@uri.edu)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While your full proposal is being developed within your college, reach out to us to begin building your Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Plan. This can \u2014 and should \u2014 happen in parallel with other parts of the proposal process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Develop your Assessment Plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will help you develop a plan that includes the required components listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Assessment Plan must include<\/strong>: <\/th><\/tr><\/thead>
1. Defined program goals and program-level student learning outcome statements<\/td><\/tr>
2. A completed curriculum map linking outcomes to curricular and course experiences<\/td><\/tr>
3. A projected assessment timeline mapping out reporting for upcoming cycles<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

5. Complete the program proposal in Kuali<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The approved Assessment Plan becomes a required component of your full program proposal package submitted through the Faculty Senate curriculum process which is done in Kuali. Once your program is approved by the Faculty Senate, you will be assigned a reporting cohort and expected to begin the assessment cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning an online program?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If your new program will be offered fully or partially online, also contact URI Online<\/a> in addition to the Assessment Office. Both need to be involved early in the process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Proposing a certificate?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Certificates follow the same process as degree programs \u2014 you will need an Assessment Plan and JCAPROA approval. Use the certificate-specific template above.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What happens after launch?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Once your program is approved and enrolling students, you will be assigned a reporting cohort and begin the standard assessment cycle, typically submitting your first report within 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
