This may be different from the way you and your faculty are used to developing new programs. In this meeting, Jill will review and answer any questions about the process for proposing and developing an online program with URI Online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plan: Program Proposal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Departments proposing a new URI Online programs must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Obtain a marketing analysis demonstrating expected student demand for such a program and the employment opportunities for graduates. URI Online can help you with some approaches.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Submit a seed grant proposal to the Provost&#8217;s office for approval and funds to help you get started.&nbsp;Signing and submitting the seed funding proposal application confirms that participating faculty understand the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/uri-online\/urionline-programs\/expectations\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"614\">expectations<\/a>, process, and requirements for developing courses and program coordinators understand and agree to URI Online&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/uri-online\/urionline-programs\/expectations\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"614\">expectations <\/a>of them and to <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/online-program\/online-reg\/\">federal, state, and accreditation regulations<\/a> related to online programs.&nbsp;<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/URI-Online-Seed-Funding-Application-July-2020.v2-3.docx\">Seed Grant Proposal<\/a> (Word)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1kulzhNKBDDG02sh0OCVQZOpolmTZ1GaX\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=107386022052228246287&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">Seed Grant Budget<\/a> (Google Sheet &#8211; view only)<ul><li><em>Seed grant budget reflects the grant  model for FY&#8217; 23 as of Jan 2022. <\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/URI-Online-Seed-Funding-FAQS-July-2020.Final_.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">FAQs<\/a> (PDF)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Follow the established Faculty Senate curriculum <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/facsen\/curricular-matters\/curricular-procedures\/\">procedures<\/a><\/em><\/strong> for approval of the program and all its associated courses.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Develop: Course Development, Marketing, and Launch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The program coordinator and URI Online Assistant Director, in consultation with the Instructional Design team and marketing, set a program launch date.&nbsp;&nbsp;Adherence to that date is critical as several efforts will converge on that point.<\/li><li>Based on that date:<ul><li>The program coordinator, faculty, and Instructional Design team establish a schedule of course development, incorporating information on course offerings.<\/li><li>Marketing develops a communications plan.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The program coordinator and URI Online Assistant Director meet regularly to ensure that the plans are on track and to identify and resolve any emerging concerns.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All courses in the program will have master courses developed using the accelerated (7-week) schedule and following the URI Online course development process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Courses are developed by faculty by engaging in an Online Design course &#8211; an <a href=\"https:\/\/create.piktochart.com\/output\/46362181-uri-online-program-development-copy\">8-week, intensive professional development course<\/a> with a goal of supporting faculty in designing a coherent online program including an external Quality Matters review (Online Design <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/14pmcAKEip5pZQbjURiG9rcO5g0y_00tE\/view?usp=sharing\">Syllabus<\/a>). Outlined below are the various roles and expectations that all participants agree to by engaging in the proposal and development process. All new online programs must meet the standards set by NECHE and adopted by the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) in their C-RAC Standards.
