{"id":551,"date":"2020-10-21T09:04:32","date_gmt":"2020-10-21T13:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl-draft\/?page_id=551"},"modified":"2026-02-10T11:41:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T16:41:19","slug":"newprograms","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/assessment\/newprograms\/","title":{"rendered":"New Programs &amp; Certificates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Assessment<\/h1>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-menu-wrapper\"><nav id=\"\" class=\"cl-menu  \" data-name=\"program-assessment\" data-show-title=\"0\"><ul id=\"menu-assessment-process\" class=\"cl-menu-list cl-menu-list-no-js\"><li id=\"menu-item-4159\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-4159\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/assessment\/assessment-tools\/\">Assessment Process<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-4162\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-4162\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/assessment\/reporting\/\">Reporting<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-4165\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-4165\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/assessment\/initiatives\/\">Faculty Resources<\/a><\/li>\n<li id=\"menu-item-4168\" class=\"menu-item menu-item-type-post_type menu-item-object-page menu-item-4168\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/assessment\/newprograms\/\">New Programs<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/nav><\/section>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:65%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">Proposing New Programs and Certificates <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In accordance with the Faculty Senate and University Manual, (8.85.14), \u201ca proposal submitted to the coordinating and review committee (section 8.85.11) shall have included the following steps:&nbsp;#23-24-22<br><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> While the complete proposal is being developed within the college, the proposer(s) shall seek consultation with the (ATL) Office of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment and Accreditation (SLOAA) in preparation of its plan for student learning assessment and thereafter obtain approval by the Joint Committee on Academic Program Review and Outcomes Assessment (JCAPROA) of its plan\u2026\u201d This process can happen simultaneously with the development of the library impact statement and budget analysis.<br><br>ATL\u2019s Assessment Office is available to support a successful new program proposal package with the development of a Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assessment Plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A template is provided to guide faculty in the development of the assessment plan which includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Defined program goals and program-level student learning outcome statements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed curriculum map that links outcomes to curricular and course experiences and requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projected assessment timeline to map out the assessment projects for upcoming assessment reporting cycles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"new\"><strong>Proposal Process and Expectations <\/strong><br>Make a copy and complete the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/10wSkWmfh9O8nPZnm3uljZsopNlF7tXvJIPQWTQH_0lA\/edit?usp=sharing\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/1.6.25_FULL-PROGRAM_New-Program-Assessment-Plan-Template.docx\">New Program Assessment Plan<\/a> or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1kxIFidIsPVVRPTsjeNW9AhshwrkDABWExycExt3dKXw\/edit?usp=sharing\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/CERTIFICATE_New-Program-Assessment-Plan-Template-1.docx\">New Program Assessment Plan for CERTIFICATES<\/a> in consultation with the Assessment Office team who will provide support when creating the plan, and formal feedback and sign-off on the official working draft for the proposal package.
