The policies, tone, and interactions we have with our students and peers can be informed by research on how to best support each other in traumatic circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While these strategies and techniques are suggestions for incorporating or adjusting what happens in the class, also remember that this is a community with various resources and experts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>URI has <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/2-syllabus-elements\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"10014\">several resources<\/a> (e.g, Counseling Center, Food Bank, Psychological Clinic) to support its community that we can share with students individually or in your syllabus.<\/li><li>Faculty Self-care is also important to recharge our capacity to be responsive and empathetic with others.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>[As many of the topics in this area connect, you may also find relevant resources in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/difficult-conversations\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"3142\">difficult dialogue<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/trauma-informed-pedagogy\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/creating-an-inclusive-classroom\/\">fostering a sense of belonging<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/atl\/antiracist-pedagogy\/\">anti-racist &amp; decolonizing pedagogy<\/a>.]<\/p>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-quote-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-quote  \"><div class=\"cl-quote-image\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/heart-5234224_640.jpg)\" title=\"\"><\/div><blockquote>Educators always hope students will enter an academic environment both academically ready to learn and emotionally ready\nto experience the enjoyment and excitement of discovery.
