When designing or making changes to your course to meet the diversity and inclusion GenEd requirement you will need to meet the standards set in the rubric &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/941\/C3-Diversity_and_Inclusion_Revised_03-02-2020.pdf\">URI\u00a0Diversity &amp; Inclusion General Education Rubric<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are the elements of the rubric:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Demonstrates understanding of the social construction of difference in the context of the U.S.<\/li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of identity development, prejudice, inequality, privilege, and oppression as they relate to the U.S.<\/li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the impact of discrimination and inequalities in the U.S.<\/li><li>Develops problem-solving or conflict resolution skills related to diversity and inclusion.<\/li><li>Can understand the experience of marginalized groups in the U.S.<\/li><li>Can communicate and engage in difficult dialogues related to diversity and inclusion.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the general resources available for faculty on the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/general-education\/faculty\/\">General Education site<\/a>, these resources are specific to supporting this requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-quote-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-quote  \"><div class=\"cl-quote-image\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1970\/diversity-985317_1920.jpg)\" title=\"\"><\/div><blockquote>Courses supporting the Diversity and Inclusion Learning Outcome &#8230; encourage students to connect with issues and topics pertaining to inclusion, equity, respect, and social justice and contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment and campus community.<\/blockquote><cite>adapted from URI General Education website<\/cite><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"quick-reads\">Explore &amp; Consider<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"type-sans\">Explore &amp; Consider contains short articles and videos that reflect on or summarize current thinking, research, or experiences related to the topic.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"cl-tiles thirds equal-height\"><div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-card-wrapper\"><a class=\"cl-card  \" href=\"http:\/\/breakingprejudice.org\/teaching\/assignment-page\/paper-assignments\/prejudice-in-everyday-life-paper.html\" title=\"\"><div class=\"cl-card-container text\"><div class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>Prejudice in Everyday Life Paper<\/h2><p>Instructions and grading rubric for a paper where students explain a recent news event using a social psychological theory of stereotyping, prejudice, or discrimination.
