Welcome back Club Sports, as we enter our 2022-23 academic and athletic season. Our program\u2019s teams have already recommenced and begun this year\u2019s hustle. <\/span><\/p>\n Our Club Sports teams have already had about three weeks\u2019 worth of competition, and this is how they have done so far.<\/span><\/p>\n Sailing<\/b><\/p>\n There have been 17 regattas that the URI Sailing team has competed in already this season. A few of the events in early September had trouble with weather and conditions, but ultimately there has been a good effort from the team in these contests. <\/span><\/p>\n The team took it on the road to acquire their first win of the season in Chicago this past weekend. On Saturday, racing started in high breeze, and the team successfully placed in the top 3 in every race. Sunday breeze was lighter however the team was able to pull out wins.<\/span><\/p>\n The sailing team hosted 14 teams out of the Sailing Center this past weekend, which generated their second win of the season. <\/span><\/p>\n Field Hockey<\/b><\/p>\n The URI Field Hockey team took a quick trip to Providence College on Sunday, where they had their first game of the season. However, this resulted in a 5-0 loss.<\/span><\/p>\n Men\u2019s Rugby<\/b><\/p>\n The Men\u2019s Rugby team has had three games this month to begin their season, and two of those games were played with a home-field advantage. <\/span><\/p>\n For the team\u2019s season opener, they played against Boston College but fell short 47-12. The following two games were against Columbia University, then URI\u2019s Men\u2019s Rugby traveled to Yale University. The Men\u2019s Rugby team is 0-3 in their season at this point. <\/span><\/p>\n Men\u2019s Soccer <\/b><\/p>\n The URI Men\u2019s Soccer team is a new addition to the Club Sports department this year. <\/span><\/p>\n The team has competed in four competitions this month so far. For the season opener, they traveled to the University of Hartford. However, Hartford had to forfeit due to poor field conditions and a rescheduled time could not be agreed upon. This resulted in an automatic win for the Men\u2019s Soccer Team. <\/span><\/p>\n The next series of games for the URI Men\u2019s Soccer team was a home game and an away game versus the University of Connecticut. Unfortunately, URI lost both games, but the team wanted to recognize senior Garrett Rospars for scoring a quality long free kick in the away game. <\/span><\/p>\n Women\u2019s Soccer<\/b><\/p>\n The University of Rhode Island\u2019s Women\u2019s Soccer team is also new to the Club Sports department this year. <\/span><\/p>\n The team won their season opener against Stonehill College. Goal Scorers were Jackie Osmanski, Mattie Sullivan, Erin Daniel, and Lily Loparto with two goals. <\/span><\/p>\n This past weekend, The URI Women\u2019s Soccer Team competed in a tournament held by Providence College. They tied PC (0-0) in the first game and it was a very close game.
