In addition to supporting research opportunities and new college initiatives, this fund allows students to present their work at national conferences, study abroad, take part in experiential learning opportunities, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fellowships\">Fellowships and Experiential Learning<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With a strong emphasis on research and hands-on learning, we offer students opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research, field studies, fellowships, and internships that have both local and global impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2023-2024 Academic Year in CELS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<section>\n\n<div class=\"breakout\" style=\"background:#efefef;padding-top: class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"scholarships\">Student Success and Persistence Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediate-use scholarships offer flexible support when it\u2019s needed most, helping students stay enrolled, focused, and able to persist through to graduation even when sudden challenges arise. This fund was the direct result of CELS faculty advocating for an avenue to invest in the resilience and potential of deserving students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mentoring\">Peer Mentoring and Ambassador Programs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Research shows that having a sense of belonging is strongly linked to success, retention, well\u2011being, and academic achievement amongst college students. We\u2019re proud to offer avenues for students to find belonging, purpose, and community at URI while growing in leadership. The Peer Mentoring Program empowers CELS majors to help their peers navigate course registration, internships, research opportunities, and more, while the Student Ambassador Program prepares students to conduct campus tours, informational meetings, and crucial outreach efforts such as University recruitment events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"facilities\">Teaching and Learning Spaces (Facilities)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Integral to our land-and-sea grant missions are non-classroom spaces and equipment that allow hands-on learning, resources and services for local communities, collaborations with local and state agencies, and applied research. Our Agricultural Experiment Station now includes three farms and several greenhouses on the Kingston Campus and at East Farm: the Greene H.
