Flagship Student Ambassador Fellowship Application

Each semester, the Chinese Flagship Program hires two Flagship Student Ambassadors to help with marketing and recruitment efforts by representing the Flagship program in an engaging, professional manner to current and prospective students and their families, as well as company representatives, international delegations (i.e. from partner universities), alumni, and the university and surrounding communities. They may receive a scholarship (scholarship amount varies from $300 to $500) for exemplary service at the discretion of the program director.

Events that require Flagship Student Ambassador participation:

  • Study Abroad Fair (Wed. Sept. 12 from 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. at M.U. Ballroom)
  • Open Houses in the fall (Sunday, Oct 28th and Saturday, Nov 3rd)
  • Welcome Days in the spring
  • High school visits 
  • Prospective student/family visits
  • Chinese class visits
  • On-campus cultural celebrations
  • Visits from international delegations and company representatives

Additional Duties:

  • Update Flagship Social Media
  • Co-organize Bi-weekly Chinese Tea Time with the Hillside RAM
  • Attend ambassador training workshop 

Eligibility

  • Class Standing
    • We are looking for one sophomore who has attended a domestic immersion program; and
    • one junior or senior who has attended an international immersion program
  • GPA: 3.3 or higher 
  • Proven dedication to the Chinese Flagship Program, as indicated by class attendance, participation in Chinese cultural activities, and desire to learn Chinese

  • Students must submit the below application
    • Fall semester deadline: September 7th by 5:00 PM
    • Spring semester deadline: January 30th by 5:00 PM
  • Finalists will be interviewed by the URI Flagship Committee
