Students wishing to apply for a Flagship Scholarship for Summer 2026 should submit their application by April 6, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The following are Flagship-approved summer programs:
\nDomestic Summer:
\n– Indiana University (IU) Chinese Workshop
\n– Middlebury Language Schools \u2013 Chinese
\n– URI Summer Program \u2013 CFIP
\nOverseas Summer (Taiwan):
\n– ICLP
\n– Tamkang University (TKU)
\n– American Councils Taiwan Intensive Summer Language Program (TISLP)
\n– Mandarin Training Center (MTC)
\n– Harvard Taipei Academy
\n– CET Taiwan<\/p>\n

The application requires you to explain your reasons for applying to your program of choice, provide an honest assessment of your financial situation, and indicate whether you are applying for external scholarships. In addition, you will be asked to explain why you should be considered for scholarship funding from the URI Chinese Flagship Program and how your future professional goals align with the mission and needs of the Flagship Program and federal service.<\/p>\n

Each Flagship student\u2019s scholarship amount varies annually based on federal funding levels and the criteria outlined below. Please note that the award will not cover the full cost of attendance. As such, it is highly recommended that you apply to non-Flagship scholarships to help completely fund your Chinese studies.<\/p>\n
