Development of reading and writing skills. Intermediate-level grammatical structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 114 (H): Intensive Intermediate Chinese III\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on practice in listening and speaking. Development of reading and writing skills. Intermediate-level grammatical structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 215 (H): Intensive Conversation and Composition I\n<ul>\n<li>Intensive course in further development of spoken and written Chinese. Advanced-Low level grammatical structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 216 (H): Intensive Conversation and Composition II\n<ul>\n<li>Intensive course in further development of spoken and written Chinese. Advanced-Low level grammatical structures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 315 (H): Intensive Advanced Chinese for the Chinese Flagship Program I\n<ul>\n<li>Survey of Chinese literature, Media Chinese, and Classical Chinese.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 316 (H): Intensive Advanced Chinese for the Chinese Flagship Program II\n<ul>\n<li>Survey of Chinese literature, Media Chinese, and Classical Chinese.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>These courses may be used to fulfill cultural electives within the Chinese major:<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CHN 401: Topics in Chinese Culture and Civilization\n<ul>\n<li>Students will study various topics on Chinese culture, society, and civilization through selected readings and multimedia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 413: Advanced Technical Chinese\n<ul>\n<li>Cross-listed as EGR 413. Lectures and seminar on advanced scientific and engineering topics in an international context.\u00a0 All reading, writing, and discussion will be conducted in Chinese.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 421: Modern Chinese Literature I\n<ul>\n<li>Advance literature course focusing on readings and discussions of major modern Chinese writes and their masterpieces from the end of the Imperial Era through the Chinese Civil War in 1949.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 422: Modern Chinese Literature II\n<ul>\n<li>Literary works of famous writers in Contemporary China. Students will read and discuss representative literary selections from the start of the New China, through the Cultural Revolution to the present.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CHN 497: Directed Study\n<ul>\n<li>Designed for the particularly advanced student.
