Wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in the country for both women and men. URI wrestling is proudly gender inclusive and welcomes wrestlers and athletes of all skill levels. The URI Wrestling Team consists of All-Americans, Academic-All-Americans, and National Qualifiers, as well as athletes new to the sport. URI is part of the NCWA Northeast Conference and compete against, but not limited to, teams from Springfield Technical Community College, University of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, SUNY College, University of Connecticut, Yale, and the University of New Hampshire. Placing at the Conference Tournament qualifies a wrestler for the National Tournament that was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2023.
