Understanding how these snacks are implemented and how children respond to them is key to making the program as effective as possible<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My doctoral dissertation examines how the FFVP is implemented in schools in Rhode Island and how children consume the snacks it provides. It also tests the feasibility and effectiveness of the nutrition curriculum designed to accompany FFVP snacks. Working with a speech-language pathologist, the project explores the sensory experience of eating fruits and vegetables and uses those insights as a PSE intervention to improve FFVP snack consumption.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a federally funded initiative that provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to students in participating elementary schools during the school day.
