Who is a \u201ccommuter\u201d?<\/h1>#offcampusliving<\/span><\/div><\/a><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n

Students who live in the residence halls, fraternities, sororities, University Gateway, or University Village Apartments are NOT<\/em><\/strong> considered commuters. Usually, first-year students and sophomores will either live at home or live on campus; juniors and seniors tend to leave campus grounds and move \u201cdown the line\u201d for their final years at URI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At URI, we typically have two kinds of commuters: those who live \u201cat home\u201d and those who live independently in the community. The most popular neighborhoods “down the line” include Bonnet Shores, Eastward Look, Narragansett Pier, Scarborough Beach, Point Judith, Wakefield, Peacedale, South Kingstown, Matunuck, and Charlestown. \u201cAt home\u201d students are students who live with their families or live off-campus year-round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
