The University of Rhode Island\u2019s URI Gardens<\/a> are an ideal outdoor setting for small tented events or ceremonies of up to 100 people. The 4.5 acres of beautifully designed landscapes, flower beds, trees, and shrubs are carefully chosen for our climate and highlight the sustainable landscaping practices of the gardens. Each season brings its own special beauty. From the early spring azaleas to the reds and golds of autumn leaves, there are always vibrant colors throughout the gardens. <\/span>  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Events<\/h1>\n

The URI Gardens are available May thru November for events, weddings, photo opportunities and ceremonies of up to 100 people. The University of Rhode Island Gardens can be reserved by contacting URI\u2019s Conference Services. All rental arrangements, including porta johns, electrical, tent (max size of 40X80\u2019), catering, parking, etc. must be coordinated through Conference Services. Please contact Conference Services for fees and availability. <\/span><\/p>\n

The garden is a public space, and although we cannot restrict access to students and the general public, most visitors to the garden respect the activities of a private event.<\/span><\/p>\n

History<\/h1>

The University of Rhode Island has a long and distinguished history as Rhode Island\u2019s agricultural and Land Grant institution. An important part of our history has included teaching Horticultural Science and planting trees on the Kingston campus. Formal Gardens were created here over 50 years ago. They are now known as the URI Gardens<\/a> , started in 1991 with a donation from the Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association. The 4.5 acre URI Gardens and Horridge Conservatory now rank among the most beautiful places on the URI campus, frequented and treasured by URI faculty, staff, and students. The Gardens are also a valuable teaching and research tool and a model of sustainable landscaping for URI students and faculty from many departments, as well as appreciative visitors from all over New England. Along with the contiguous 1,200 acres of the Everett P. Christopher Arboretum, the URI Gardens have become a horticultural gem in southern New England.
