Learning Landscape Field Trips

URI Cooperative Extension invites elementary school groups to book a Spring Learning Landscape Field Trip. This two-hour environmental education program engages children in several hands-on learning stations to explore biomes and plants and wildlife that inhabit southern New England. Learning Landscape also introduces topics such as water pollution and environmental stewardship, all in a fun and age-appropriate format and in alignment with Common Core Standards and Grade Span Expectations. Students bring their experiences back to the classroom with seeds planted in a recycled pot and their own nature journals. Facilitated by specially-trained URI Master Gardeners and URI students, this program is held at the URI Kingston Botanical Garden. Middle school and special needs groups are invited to participate at the discretion of the teacher.
