Program Description:
Learning Landscape field trips are held at the URI Botanical Gardens on Upper College Road in Kingston. School-age children from area Rhode Island elementary schools visit URI for a two-hour program to learn about topics including plants, insects, mammals, birds, water pollution and more through hands-on activities. Field trips are led by URI students and URI Master Gardeners. Outdoor activities are held except in inclement weather during which programs are moved to indoor classrooms. A three-hour training is provided in April at the URI Mallon Center at 3 East Alumni Avenue in Kingston. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least one morning per week for the duration of the program, from 9-noon. For more information, please contact Kate Venturini at kate@uri.edu.
