2027 Order Form<\/h1>

The Free Seed Program will accept orders in January 2027 from community-based organizations including schools, churches, community gardens, daycare centers, garden clubs, senior centers, and\/or 501(c)3 nonprofits ONLY. Questions? Email coopext@uri.edu.<\/p>

About the Program<\/h1>\n\n

Every year, the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation donates expired but still viable packets of Burpee\u00ae seeds to URI Cooperative Extension for distribution throughout Rhode Island. Community-based organizations, libraries and food distribution agencies (e.g. food pantries) in Rhode Island are invited to place seed packet orders. Please note that incomplete, illegible and\/or late order forms will not be processed. Resale of seed packets obtained through the URI Free Seed Program is prohibited.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n

FAQ’s<\/h1>\n\n

Why are the seeds available for free?<\/b>
The URI Free Seed Program is made possible annually through the generous donation of expired, unsold seed packets from Ocean State Job Lot stores throughout the Northeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am an individual and would like free seeds. Where can I get them?<\/strong>
Free seeds are available at most libraries across Rhode Island. Visit your local library and find their seed display!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When can I submit an order?<\/b>
Orders are generally accepted in mid-January for a two-week period. This timeline is subject to change based on when the seeds are received from the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I missed the order deadline?<\/b> Seeds are available at most libraries across the state, and at our events. Check out our upcoming events calendar<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I pick up my order?<\/b>
Non profit organizations may opt to have orders mailed for the cost of shipping and handling, or they may pick them up on designated pick up days, by appointment. See the order form for pick up locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if I can\u2019t pick-up my order on the pick-up days scheduled?<\/b>
You may send a check for the cost of postage (see order form for rates) and we will mail your seeds to you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I submit a seed order if I live out of Rhode Island?<\/b>
Seeds are available to community-based organizations in Rhode Island only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are the seeds genetically modified?<\/b>
From the Burpee website: \u201cWe do not sell seed that has been genetically modified (GMO). Burpee has never bought or sold GMO seeds, and we have no intention of doing so in the future.\u201d For more information, please visit the Burpee website.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n
