The Center uses a short-term framework to help students work toward their&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">therapeutic<\/span> goals.&nbsp; Are you ready to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/uri.edu\/counseling\/getstarted\">get started<\/a><\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Common topics discussed in short-term&nbsp;<span class=\"il\">counseling<\/span>&nbsp;include<\/strong> (but are not limited to):&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Academic, employment, and career related concerns&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Anxiety and stress<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Depression&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Grief and loss&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Identity development (sexual, racial, ethnic, religious, gender, etc.)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Interpersonal concerns (friends, family, roommates, romantic partnerships)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Loneliness<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Self-esteem concerns&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Sexual violence\/misconduct (e.g., sexual assault\/rape, harassment, dating violence, and stalking)<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">substance use concerns<\/li>\n<li>Transition and adjustment to college&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sometimes, long-term support is a better fit<\/strong> for the student\u2019s needs. In such cases, the Center assists students with <a href=\"http:\/\/uri.edu\/counseling\/care\">care management support <\/a>to find a provider in the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are in need of space to attend a teletherapy appointment:<\/strong>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe <span class=\"il\">Counseling<\/span>&nbsp;Center has a limited number of private rooms that can be reserved.
