Nov 20th, 5-6 pm<\/h2><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-card-container button\">JOIN ZOOM WEBINAR<\/div><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will be accepted starting November 1, 2024 with a deadline of December 20, 2024.&nbsp; Applicants will be asked to provide the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A short essay explaining why they would like to participate in this program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demographic Information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Decisions will be made based on the above information as well as any or all of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fall semester grades&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High school transcript&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1531\/IGT_Image_2024.jpg\" alt=\"IGT event attendees\" class=\"wp-image-17368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1531\/IGT_Image_2024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1531\/IGT_Image_2024-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1531\/IGT_Image_2024-364x485.jpg 364w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/cs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1531\/IGT_Image_2024-500x667.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any first-year student who is a member of the Society for Women in Computing and is a Computer Science major, or intends to be a Computer Science major is eligible to apply.&nbsp; In order to continue in the program, IGT Scholars are expected to maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brightstar Scholars will be selected from among the applicants by a committee in the Department of Computer Science and Statistics in conjunction with the Office of the Dean, College of Arts and Sciences.\u00a0 The selection decisions will be made by January 10, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brightstar Scholar Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brightstar Scholars will be responsible for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
