If you are interested in computing and see a connection between your major and computing skills, this is for you. Experience in a Computer Science minor would enhance your marketability by adding computing skills to your major skills.<\/p>\n<p>Incentives and Job market:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50-75K starting salary for Web and Software Development<\/li>\n<li>Huge shortage of people with these skills<\/li>\n<li>First job out of college in software development will give you plenty of opportunities to grow into new roles within tech companies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are the courses required for the 2 new minors:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Web Programming:<\/strong> Students are prepared for front end and back end development, using existing database architecture and product requirements to develop a web based application.<br \/>\n(Note: Computer Science Majors should follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.uri.edu\/academics\/undergraduate-studies\/proposed-undergraduate-tracks-in-computer-science\/#WebDevelopment\">Web Programming Track<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>List of courses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSC 106<\/li>\n<li>CSC 201<\/li>\n<li>CSC\/COM 271<\/li>\n<li>CSC\/COM 372<\/li>\n<li>CSC 399 &#8211; A new course designed as a industry-led capstone project course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Enterprise Programming:<\/strong> Students will have the foundation data structures and objected oriented programming skills.<\/p>\n<p>List of courses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CSC 106<\/li>\n<li>CSC 110<\/li>\n<li>CSC 211<\/li>\n<li>CSC 212<\/li>\n<li>CSC 399 &#8211; A new course designed as a industry-led capstone project course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>University of Rhode Island is pleased to introduce two new minors: Web Programming Enterprise Programming Note:\u00a0These are not available to Computer Science majors.
