Please consult the student rights and responsibilities and the appeal procedures for students.<\/p>\n\n<\/article><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Rights:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nondiscrimination and equal opportunity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respectful treatment by all university personnel .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equal access to programs services, activities and facilities provided by the University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reasonable and appropriate accommodations according to the individual\u2019s disability (i.e. academic adjustment or auxiliary aids, determined on a case-by-case basis using required documentation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appropriate and reasonable confidentiality of information related to\u00a0student\u2019s\u00a0disability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"student-responsibilities\">Student Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Disclose the disability and provide current documentation from an appropriate provider to URI Disability, Access, and Inclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete the Accommodation Request Form each semester by meeting with advisors in the Disability, Access, and Inclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss the\u00a0Accommodation Letter with each faculty member in advance of the needed accommodation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make best effort to demonstrate mastery of course material.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet all program requirements for graduation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Treat all university personal respectfully.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"academic-appeals\">Appeals for Academic Accommodations (Such as But Not Limited to Exams, Courses, Degree Programs, Degree Requirements)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A University member or a student may request a review of an accommodation decision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The request for review is to be submitted to the Director, Disability, Access, and Inclusion\/ Office of Student Life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Director will attempt to facilitate a mutually acceptable accommodation agreement by discussion with the student, the professor, department chair, and the Dean of the respective college as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no acceptable agreement can be reached, the request for reconsideration will be forwarded to the Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Vice Provost will review the information received, request additional information if necessary, and make a final decision. The Vice Provost will transmit a decision to the student, the University member and the Director, Disability, Access, and Inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"appeals\">Appeals for Non-Academic Accommodations (Such as But Not Limited to Housing &amp; Residential Life, Dining Services, Campus Life, Transportation, Parking, Etc.)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-roman\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A University member or a student may request a review of an accommodation decision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The request for review is to be submitted to the Director, Disability, Access, and Inclusion\/ Office of Student Life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Director will attempt to facilitate a mutually acceptable accommodation agreement by discussion with the student, the department staff or department director related to the accommodation (for example: requests for certain living or dining arrangements transportation, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no acceptable agreement can be reached, the request for reconsideration will be forwarded to the appropriate Assistant Vice President for resolution (i.e. Dean of Students\/AVP for Student Affairs and\/or Director of Housing\/AVP for Student Affairs, and\/or Assistant Vice President for Business Services).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The respective Assistant Vice President will review the information received, request additional information if necessary, and make a final determination.
