This step connects students to individualized support.

START URI

START URI is a year‑long, community‑driven program created by and for autistic and neurodivergent students through DAI. It’s completely free, fully inclusive, and built around identity, connection, and growth. The program gives committed, neurodivergent students a space to build community, strengthen academic and professional skills, and experience social life in ways that feel authentic and respectful. It’s designed for students who want support navigating academic or social barriers, who are ready to grow on their own terms.

Not every neurodivergent student will want or need START URI to support their transition to URI. For those who do, beginning college with the right information and an affirming community can make all the difference. We give you the knowledge and support you need to make an informed choice about whether START URI is the right fit for you.

Quiet & Accessible Study Spaces

To support students who benefit from reduced sensory environments, DAI has compiled and shares a list of quiet and accessible study spaces across campus. This resource helps students identify locations that support focus and comfort.

Tips for Success:
Advice from DAI students

URI offers a wide range of intentional supports and community opportunities for neurodivergent (ND) students.
