{"id":477,"date":"2013-09-30T13:09:20","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T13:09:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/earlyalert\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2025-02-05T10:44:01","modified_gmt":"2025-02-05T15:44:01","slug":"faq","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/earlyalert\/faq\/","title":{"rendered":"FAQ"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Who should submit an Early Alert Referral?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Anyone concerned about a currently enrolled student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When should I submit a Referral?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At any point a student is in need of additional support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How do I submit a Referral?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fill out the <a title=\"Referral Form\" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/earlyalert\/referral-form\/\">referral form<\/a> or call Early Alert Services at 401.874.5168 or 401.874.5527.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if my concern is not included on the list of choices?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select &#8216;other&#8217; and describe the issue in the comment section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How will I know that my Referral was successfully submitted?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you hit submit, a system generated response will confirm your submission. Early Alert will respond to your referral within one to two business days. During peak times, response may take longer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What about confidentiality?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under FERPA, there is clear exception for any risks to health or safety. FERPA allows for communication to be shared among \u201cschool officials\u201d who have a legitimate educational interest. Therefore, information regarding students may be shared on a strictly \u201cneed to know\u201d basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Will my referral remain anonymous?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It depends: If you wish to remain anonymous, we will do our best to do so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">unless it is a health and\/or safety issue<\/span>. Please note &#8211; any alert strictly about attendance and\/or academic performance will be disclosed to the student unless the referring party requests otherwise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if I want to submit a second Referral on the same student during the same term?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Call or email Early Alert to let us know you have additional information regarding the same student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Should I use Early Alert to report academic misconduct?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic misconduct should first be reported to the Department Chair of the course in question and\/or the Dean of Students Office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who should submit an Early Alert Referral?
