The speaker is&nbsp;Professor Robert E. Burns of the&nbsp;Harrington School of Communication and Media at URI.&nbsp;Professor Robert E. Burns has been teaching public speaking at the college level and coaching professional clients for over 30 years. His audio CD,&nbsp;<i>How To Be A Confident Public Speaker! No More Stage Fright!,&nbsp;<\/i>sells throughout the world, and his video,&nbsp;<i>Speech Anxiety,<\/i>&nbsp;has reached over 18,000 viewers. Professor Burns holds an advanced degree in Communication Studies from the University of Massachusetts, degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from Providence College, and a degree in Social Sciences and Research Methods from Roger Williams University.&nbsp; Professor Burns also holds a national Advanced Teaching Certificate in Speech Communication and the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economics Department will be hosting a special presentation on public speaking at 12 pm March 20th in Kirk Hall Auditorium.
