Candidates integrate their learning directly into their current roles through embedded clinical experience, developing the critical skills needed to drive meaningful change and improve student outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Per the Rhode Island Department of Education, candidates who complete a Rhode Island Approved Educator Preparation Program are eligible for full certification in Rhode Island and are eligible for certification in other states through reciprocity under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasdtec.net\/page\/Interstate\">NASDTEC Interstate Agreement.<\/a> Reciprocity requirements vary by state, See our FAQ for details.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Facts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Degree: Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Credits: 36 (Foundation Coursework: 15 credits; Methods &amp; Application Coursework: 15 credits; Internship: 6 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Format: Online \u2014 synchronous and asynchronous coursework<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pace: Flexible, typically completed over 8\u20139 semesters (approximately 3 years); Strategic Leadership and Visioning<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1.1 &#8211; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Collaboratively lead, design, and implement a school mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities, including data use, technology, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.<br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1.2 &#8211; Demonstrate the capacity to advocate for ethical decisions and cultivate and enact professional norms.&nbsp;<br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1.3 &#8211; Develop and maintain a supportive, equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive school culture.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Goal #2 &#8211; Curriculum and Instructional Leadership<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2.1 &#8211; Develop, implement, and evaluate coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, professional development, and assessment.<br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2.2 &#8211; Ensure that instructional practices align with standards, are consistent with knowledge of student learning and development, and are intellectually engaging.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Goal #3 &#8211; Foster a professional community of teachers and other professional staff to promote each student\u2019s academic success and social and emotional well-being.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Goal #4 &#8211; Management and Resource Planning<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4.1 &#8211; Develop coherent management, communication, technology, school-level governance, and operation systems to promote each student&#8217;s academic success and well being.<br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">4.2 &#8211; Build the school\u2019s professional capacity, engage staff in the development of a collaborative professional culture, and improve systems of staff supervision, evaluation, and support.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Course Delivery Format<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This program is considered a virtual hybrid program.&nbsp; Courses will be delivered online in a combination of synchronous and asynchronous sessions. A variety of instructional methods are used, including lectures, discussions, case studies, presentations, cooperative learning activities, internet assignments, guest practitioner presentations, role-play, and written and verbal assignments. Courses are taught by URI full-time and part-time faculty.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our comprehensive curriculum merges theory with practical application, covering essential topics such as curriculum leadership, resource management, and community engagement. Courses are taught by expert faculty with extensive leadership experience, fostering mentorship and professional networking opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Graduates of the program are well-prepared to pursue PK-12 Building Level Administrator certification in Rhode Island, with opportunities for additional coursework to advance into district-level leadership roles, including Superintendent or Director of Special Education.
