From coastal resiliency and offshore wind energy to robotics, nanotechnology, and water reuse, our faculty lead nationally and internationally recognized work that blends interdisciplinary discovery class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>Student Research <\/h2><p>Our engineering students have many opportunities to conduct research while earning their degree.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-card-container button\">explore<\/div><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">Over the past two decades, the College of Engineering at the University of Rhode Island has received <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/about\/recognition\/#career\">16 CAREER Awards<\/a> from the National Science Foundation\u2014more than half of all such awards granted to URI faculty. Four faculty have also earned prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/about\/recognition\/#younginvestigator\">Young Investigator Awards<\/a> from the Office of Naval Research. These national honors reflect both the exceptional talent of our early-career faculty and the growing <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/about\/recognition\/\">recognition <\/a>of URI Engineering\u2019s leadership in key <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/research-themes-2\/\">research areas<\/a>, including resilient infrastructure, advanced materials, AI and cybersecurity, robotics, biomedical technologies, and naval and marine engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">This momentum is backed by a dramatic rise in research activity.
