This page outlines important benchmarks\u2014from initial coursework and admission requirements to major-specific prerequisites\u2014that guide your progression through your engineering degree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-boxout-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-boxout right  \">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Curriculum Sheets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/student-resources\/program-curriculum-check-sheets\/\">Curriculum Sheets<\/a> for all engineering majors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/academics\/iep\/curriculum\/\">IEP Curriculum Guides<\/a> for dual-degree students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CCRI Transfer Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/student-resources\/undergraduate-students\/academic-advising\/transfer-admission-requirements\/\">CCRI Transfer Plans<\/a> for incoming transfer students<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Transition from FISS to COE<\/strong><br>All first-year students start out in the Fannon Institute for Student Success (FISS). To continue in the College of Engineering (COE), you&#8217;ll need to satisfy COE academic requirements &#8211; typically met within your first 2-3 semesters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete at least 24 credits (including transfers) with a 2.0 GPA or higher.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Earn a C\u2011 or better in foundational courses: CHM\u202f101\/102, MTH\u202f141, MTH 142, PHY\u202f203\/273, and either PHY\u202f204\/274 or CHM\u202f112\/114.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility for Upper\u2011Level Engineering Courses<\/strong><br>Access to COE courses is tiered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>200\u2011level: Open to engineering majors only. Exceptions can be made with permission of the department chair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>300\u2011level and above: Restricted to students in the College of Engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\"><strong>Major\u2011Specific Academic Requirements<\/strong><br>Each engineering major has unique pre-requisites for upper-level coursework. Students are encouraged to review these requirements and discuss questions with their academic advisor. Here are some examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Major<\/th><th>Academic Requirement<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Biomedical, Computer, and Electrical Engineering<\/td><td>\u2022 ELE 212 \u2013 at least a 2.0 (C) average in MTH 141, MTH 142, PHY 203, PHY&nbsp; 204<br>\u2022 ELE 313 \u2013 at least a 2.0 (C) average in ELE 212, MTH 244 or 362, PHY 204<br>\u2022 ELE 338 \u2013 at least a 2.0 (C) average in ELE 201, 212, 215, MTH 142, PHY 204<br>\u2022 ELE 480 &amp; 481 \u2013 at least a 2.0 (C) average in ELE 212, 313, 338<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Chemical Engineering<\/td><td>\u2022 CHE 213, 272, and 364 &#8211; at least a \u201cC-\u201d or better in CHE 212<br>\u2022 CHE 314 &#8211; at least a \u201cC-\u201d or better in CHE 213<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Civil Engineering<\/td><td>\u2022 CVE\u202f220: C or better, plus 2.0 average in foundational courses (MTH\u202f141\/142, PHY\u202f203\/204, CHM\u202f101)<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mechanical Engineering<\/td><td>\u2022 MCE 301 \u2013 at least a 2.0 (C) average in PHY 203, MCE 262, and CVE 220<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Understanding key academic milestones is essential to staying on track.
