{"id":88272,"date":"2026-05-07T10:47:05","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T14:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/?p=88272"},"modified":"2026-05-07T11:37:02","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T15:37:02","slug":"samantha-kipper-b-s-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/samantha-kipper-b-s-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Samantha Kipper B.S. &#8217;26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Samantha Kipper, of Huntington Beach, California, graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor\u2019s degree in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/oce\/academics\/ocean-engineering-b-s\/\">ocean engineering<\/a> and minor in sustainability before heading off to pursue graduate studies.<br>\u201cI was enticed by the friendly faculty, course content, and research focus of URI,\u201d said Kipper on making the trek across the country for her education. \u201cI knew from the start that I wanted to jump into research, starting the beginning of my sophomore year in a mechanical engineering lab with Dr. Lin and then transitioning to an ocean and civil engineering lab later on with Drs. Visiting the Block Island Wind Farm and entering one of its turbines was an unforgettable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also took part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/student-resources\/undergraduate-students\/student-organizations\/women-in-engineering-mentorship-program\/\">Women in Engineering mentorship <\/a>program and helped mentor incoming engineers.
