Applications for admission to this highly competitive program are due the summer prior to the senior year and will be accepted on a rolling basis up to June 15.<\/p>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/graduate-school\/admission\/\">URI Graduate School website<\/a> for instructions. To begin the application process, click on the Apply button. Select GradCAS, and then on the next screen select the Fall term of the application deadline year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All relevant materials must be received by June 15. Only complete application files will be reviewed.<\/li>\n<li>The Graduate School requires a non-refundable $65 application fee, plus Centralized Application System (CAS) fees. This fee is waived for students currently enrolled at URI.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Notification of the Department\u2019s admission decision will be sent via email by the Graduate School.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A successful applicant will have the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed 75 credit hours toward the NEW undergraduate English major at URI in order to apply; and 90 credit hours toward the NEW undergraduate English major to enroll<\/li>\n<li>An overall 3.3 GPA; and a GPA of 3.5 in the major<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A Statement of Purpose (approximately one single-spaced page) describing your academic training to date and why you chose to apply to the A.B.M. Program in English at URI<\/li>\n<li>A completed Program of Study form (including courses that will be double-counted)<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of recommendation from references familiar with your academic work and your potential for success in graduate study<\/li>\n<li>A <b>Writing Sample <\/b>(preferably 10-15 pages in length) demonstrating capacity for close reading, effective argumentation, and research skills\n<ul>\n<li><b>If your intention is to concentrate in Creative Writing,<\/b>&nbsp;please also submit a&nbsp;<b>Creative Writing Sample<\/b>, no longer than 10 pages, in addition to the Writing Sample described above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>CV or Resume<\/li>\n<li>The GRE is <i>not<\/i> required\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.B.M. in English Admission to the Accelerated Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (A.B.M.) in English program requires a minimum overall GPA of 3.3 and a GPA of 3.5 in the major.
